The story I chosen is : "The Gold Bug"
Introduction:
A man named William Legrand, along with his servant Jupiter, lives in a wilderness hut on Sullivan's Island.
Legrand becomes friends with an anonymous narrator who visits him regularly.
Legrand discovers a gold beetle and shows it to the narrator, but his sketch of the beetle resembles a skull, intriguing both Legrand and the narrator.
Rising Action:
Legrand's behavior becomes increasingly odd, and Jupiter confides in the narrator that Legrand is obsessed with a cipher and the gold-bug.
The narrator agrees to visit Legrand and finds him convinced that the gold-bug is made of gold.
Legrand proposes a night-long expedition to search for buried treasure related to the gold-bug, and the narrator reluctantly joins him and Jupiter.
Conclusion:
Led by Legrand, the group follows his instructions and arrives at a tulip tree with a skull attached to one of its branches.
Jupiter hangs the gold-bug from the skull's left eye, and Legrand marks a spot for digging.
They unearth a chest filled with a valuable treasure, which they transport to Legrand's hut.
Legrand reveals that the parchment containing the gold-bug sketch held a cryptogram that led them to the treasure.
Legrand confesses that he had pretended to be insane as a prank on the narrator.
The story concludes with the realization that the treasure they found was worth more than they initially estimated, bringing them redemption and unexpected wealth.
